The Dark Secret of super affiliates

If you are familiar with internet business, you have have heard the term super affiliate. This is essentially the 1-2% of all affiliates that generate 98% of all sales.

First, if you are not in that 2%, you should scratch you head and look at that number again…

Only 1-2% of all affiliates earn 98%? Really? How can this be?

Now if you have been sucked in and spit out, by the “internet marketing” crowd
, you would believe that all the money online is being made by joint ventures, simply because they are very popular in the “IM” community.

Now, don’t get me wrong, forming joint ventures is very powerful, and can be (and is) done in many different markets and industries. But that is not what this is about…

The reality is that outside of “im” in the real world, there are a variety of different ways not only to drive traffic, but actually turn it into real sales. There are successful online marketers that have generated millions with as little as 100 visitors a day.

Over the next week or two we are going to investigate and discuss what some of these powerful tactics are.

Today I want am actually going to jump ahead a bit and reveal what is one (or 2) of the most important secrets of super affiliates.

What is it you ask? Well first, they never use their affiliate links when they promote their products.

Hopefully you have heard this before, but let me say that again…they do not use their affiliate links in promoting their products.

Simply put, they use a variety of methods to mask or “cloak” them, but this is really isn’t the whole story the truth goes much deeper…

First, to explain the reason that superaffiliates do this is simple. The average person in 2007 is much more internet savvy than they may have been a few years ago. This is good news, because this means that they buy much more online.

It also means that they understand a lot more how buying and selling works, aka… you the affiliate. The sad truth about human psychology is that people have a hard time “giving” someone money for something, even if it doesn’t effect them. People don’t want to feel manipulated, even though they do want to be lead. We will cover sales psychology of this at some point in the future, but for now, understand that people will delete any affiliate links they will discover and go directly to the merchant.

Merchants know this, most don’t care…as a matter of fact, they think that they are just conducting “clever business”, because it means they just got free traffic and didn’t have to pay anyone for a sale..often doubling their profits.

Lets be honest for a moment, if you saw an affiliate link when shopping online, how many times have you bypassed it and gone directly to a merchat? Chances are that you have, as studies show that most people aware of affiliate links will in fact remove them.
Now the simple solution here as we said is “cloaking” the links in a variety of ways. As a matter of fact, what you need to do now is go on google and do a search for “link cloakers” or link cloaking. Both will turn up numerous results for cloaking software, as well as methods you can do it yourself on your website , if you are so inclined.

So you will find several free options, as well as software you can purchase.

The truth is however is that this is only one small part of making things successful for your business.

What super affiliate realize is that most vendor/merchant website don’t SELL, meaning they don’t convert your visitors into buyers. This is what MOST affiliates don’t realize or understand.

Whether you sell a information product or physical product, the best way to sell products from others is by PRE-selling your visitors.

So how do you do this?

You need to write about the product, and let them know how it will benefit them, now it should be made clear that pre-selling a product is not the same as selling it. You goal here is to warm up you prospect to the sale/order page, so that they immediately make a buying decision. This is done by making clear the BENEFITS and how it fills their need, then telling them how to take action WITHOUT selling it.

You have them come to your site, you explain the product to them and then tell them to take action by visiting the site. The concept itself is simple and can be done with PPC or through SEO. This has you also provide exactly what search engines want, which is content.

Still confused?

I am going to recommend that you read the free ebook by the Legendary Ken Envoy who got 100,000 people started on the net back in 1999 with the first release of this ebook, it was last updated in 2002, and just recently he is now offering it for free.

He talks about how to sell you product, as well as how to presell products

Which actually brings me to my next point. As I said before, and I don’t know how else to be clear than to simply say that many vendor sites suck.

This is where the real secret of super affiliates comes in. They develop sites with their own sales page that completely sells the benefits of the product, then send their eager prospects DIRECTLY to the sales page.

They do this by hiring someone to create a piece of software that allows them to insert their affiliate link, which is also cloaked as described above, but go directly to the order page. Some merchants don’t care, others hate this, as they just lost a bunch of free traffic.

What this does for you, the affiliate, is create your own sales page, or sales site, and then directly send your prospect to the order page of the product you are promoting.

Most affiliate lose most sales prospects before they make it to the sales page. That is why 1-2% make all the money.

There are a few software packages that offer the ability but are few and far between, take a look for them on Google, but they tend to be expensive IF you find one.

Many affiliates paid 1000’s to develop this for themselves, I was fortunate to buy one few a few hundred, but due to the power, as top sellers don’t want everyone to use this, it was in limited quantity, and no longer sold.

I will try to find you a piece of software that can do this, but in the mean time, you need to pre-sell your product, and learn how to properly create a webpage that will sell product before they make it to the vendor site. That is going to be the way you earn sales.

There is no catch, but what Ken hopes is that you will take action and buy his web hosting services at sitesell. I would not worry too much about that, but I CAN tell you that I bought this ebook when it first came out many years ago , and paid money for it.

So you getting it for free is a great deal, seriously…

It will teach you how to pre-sell and sell products that will create a slippery slide to the order page. This is definately a key secret of super affiliates.
It would sell for at least $197 if it came out today.
Snatch that up now and I will provide you some more secrets to building your business using these strageties.
I should also note it works for your own products obviously as well and explains everything that people SHOULD be telling you about how to set up your website.

Also…I will be revealing more dark secrets of super affiliates that you can apply to any business soon

Turning prospects into buyers

Once a top marketer, with major corporate clients, commented he liked to “give people a heachache”.

What he meant by that is that to market something well, you often have to solve a need or a problem for people.

And sometimes you have to TELL people that they have a problem, before you can offer to fix it for them.

This is something that most people trying to market a product don’t understand or forget.

You need to be able to explain ot your prospect HOW your product is going to benefit them
and what PROBLEM they have that your product fills.

If you need to understand and sympathize with your prospects about how the problem they have, relate to it yourself and show you understand. Now some TOP marketers go into melodramatic details about how awful it is to be in their shoes, and how terrible the marketer felt when they had that problem, too. (It works for billion dollar clients)

Then, what do you know, they then comes up with *the answer to the problem*

Now, personally, I just can’t lay it on quite that thick, but then again they sell a lot of stuff that way! Ever seen a TV commerical?

Back in the 80’s there was a mail order company called DAC, they had been doing poorly until they brought a new marketer on board who quickly became one of their top executives.

They essentially sold electronics, but he had a way of personally describing how much he loved and used each product and how he benefited from using it personally and even more ways that you would as a buyer.

He would talk about him using it, his wife, his daughters, whomever, then what incredible need it filled for you.

He knew how to make a reader fall in love with EVERY product in the catalog. He also skyrocketed the company’s success.

I used to love to just read the catalog for his descriptions.

What you need to undestand is the importance of relating to you your prospect and being able to understand what need you are filling for them and be able to emotionally present how you can fill it. It is that emotion that you evoke that sells your product, not the features of it, no matter how great.

I have found that the most successful people are those that are passionate about what they offer, and love and believe in their product, because they bring that to their prospects, and turn them quickly into customers.

Remember though it isn’t what YOU think about your product, but what solution does it fill for your potential customer.

If you are not sure, write down a list of the key features of your product, then think about how each feature BENEFITS your prospect, then TELL THEM.

This will work with both your own products and affiliate products.

If you are into affiliate marketing, you will absolutely blow away your competition by RELATING to your customer and SHOWING them how you fill their need. Many companies do a poor job of explaining their products, even is sales letters , and most affiliates…well the few good ones are called “super affiliates” for a reason.

In the future we are going to talk more about writing your own pre-sales or sales letter for your prospects for affiliate products, as well as many other important tips.

But until then, remember…

“Give them a headache and then sell them aspirin”

It’s at the core of many successful ad campaigns.

Think about it. What “headcaches” exist in your market,
and what is your is your “pain relieving offer”?
